I’m Competing in a Triathlon!
Well, I’ve finally done it. I’ve officially entered into a Triathlon! It’s something I’ve wanted to do for several years and this past fall, a good friend of mine and I were out for a run and began talking about triathlons. We both discovered that this was a goal and he recommended that we go for it! So, just a few days ago, I logged on and registered for the Granite Falls Triathlon, scheduled for April 9, 2011 in Rolesville, NC. It is a 300 yard pool swim, 20K bike ride and 5K run. That should be a nice little challenge for my first ever Triathlon!
My friend, Brett Ciancanelli (blogging at the Running Caniac) is a strong runner. I have more experience in swimming. Neither of us has much experience with biking. However, we’re confident that, between the two of us, we can jointly train for this event and have a great time doing it!
So, that’s it. I’m on board with a triathlon. I’ll post updates from time to time on this site. But in the meantime, training begins tomorrow morning bright and early. Oh, and it is supposed to snow and/or sleet tomorrow and Tuesday. I hope we don’t have the same conditions in April!
